Teacher Quality
The quality of teachers will depend upon hiring the best teachers as well as the ongoing training of teachers. The SABJE has identified a solution to the effective training of teachers so as to avoid ad hoc and unfocussed teacher training session. The Board in line with best practice internationally intends setting up a Teachers Academy. At first serving the Jewish day school community the academy would then be expanded to serve the Independent school sector as well as provide for outreach opportunities and CSI finances. Currently South Africa has no such facility providing programmatic and practical interventions for teachers.
The cost of the Academy will be R20 million over a three year period.
